Ages 5 – 12 with Adult

What’s Cooking?

Do you get hungry every day?  So do the animals at the Zoo!  Put on your chef’s hat and join us to learn how food is stored and prepared daily, work with the Commissary staff to create an animal’s meal, and deliver to selected zoo animals.

Dates:  September 15  OR  September 22

Time:  1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Ages:  5 to 12 years old—Must be accompanied by an adult

Cost:  $18/Child    $12/Adult

Location:  Meet at the Zoo Entrance

Ages 6 – 12

Pony Sense 101

Our Zoo’s ponies are amazing animals.  Join us to learn how to groom a pony, feeding procedures, and how to relate to these animals.

Date:  September 8*

Time:  9:00 to 10:30  OR  11:00 to 12:30

Ages:  6 to 12 years old  (no adults)

Cost:  $18/Child

Location:  Meet at the Zoo Entrance

The zoo reserves the right to cancel camps with insufficient registration. In the event of such a cancellation, all of your fees will be refunded.

Kids for Nature Summer Camp

Kids for Nature Summer Camp

Your child can spend a wild week at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s all-new Kids for Nature Summer Camp! Now in its 29th year, our Summer Camp fosters a love of nature and animals while encouraging teamwork and friendship. We’ll explore the zoo, meet friendly zoo animals, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Age 3 w/ Adult

Zoo Explorers: Explore the excitement of the Zoo with your preschooler.  Pet an animal, build animal homes, and move like the animals do. Adult participants will receive a complimentary camp t-shirt, too! Please include your shirt size during registration. $40/week

Animal Alphabet: See the alphabet come alive as we encounter the variety of animals at the Zoo.  Letters take on a new meaning when they walk toward or swim away from you.  Can you find every letter of the alphabet living at the Zoo? $92/week

Number Safari:  Numbers are everywhere at the Zoo!  They are found in the ticket booths, animal diets, exhibits and even on signs. Join us as we discover that numbers are for more than just counting. $92/week

Ages 5 & 6

Who’s Who at the Zoo:  Every animal at the Zoo belongs to a family.  Learn about our animal’s characteristics and how to do basic classification of the Zoo animals in a fun and easy way. $149/week

Movers and Shakers:  Rumble, run, squawk, and swing.  How do the animals move around the Zoo?  What sounds do they make while moving?  Listen your way through the Zoo and hear what all the chatter is about. $149/week

I Can Fly:  Or does it just look like I am flying because I have wings?  If I have a home in a tree, does that make me a bird?  Help us discover the answer to these questions and more about some of the most colorful animals at the Zoo. $149/week

Design a Zoo, 7-8 yr./ 24:  There is more to the Zoo than the animals.  Can you create a new environment that will meet all the needs and wants of your favorite zoo animal?  Study how we do it and become the Director and creator of your own zoo. $149/week

World Traveler, 7-8 yr./ 24:  Explore most of the world and never leave the Zoo.  Our animals have homes across the globe.  Discover aspects of the culture, environment, and terrain of our animals’ habitats. $149/week

Positively Predators, 7-8 yr./ 24:  Predator or prey?   Eat or be eaten?  Or both?  Discover what a food chain looks like, why it is important, and where Zoo animals fall on it based on their stomachs and teeth. $149/week

Zoo Detective:  Something is missing at the Zoo!  If you think you are a Super Sleuth join us to find what is missing.  The answers are there if you know where to look. $149/week

Survivor: It’s a jungle out there!  Would you be able to survive?  Out whit, out play, out last!  Learn how animals have changed and what they need in order to survive. $149/week

Ages 9-12

Photo Safari:  Learn how to tell an animal’s story using photographs.  Local photographers will show you how to use light, timing, and patience to create a feeling with your photos.  Discover how the Zoo uses photos to tell a story too. $159/week

Zoo Artists:  Animals aren’t the only artists at our Zoo!  Work with area artists to learn how to create your own Zoo art work using different mediums.  Search the Zoo to discover the many ways that art is used to tell a story. $159/week

One session only: 7/2-7/6 (M-F) 8:30 AM- 3 PM

Ages 11 & 12

Animal Training:  Training is an important part of every animal’s care at the Zoo.  Learn why training helps the animals, who does the training, and be a part of the training process by working with animals daily. $149/week

*Junior Zoo Keeper: Everybody wants to a Keeper, but what do they do all day?  Walk with Keepers, work with Keepers and learn how they insure that our animals’ needs are being met every day.  Spend the night at the Zoo and see what happens after dark. $179/week

Tuesday, April 3

Rainforest Romp: We will meet the animals of the rainforest including orangutans, tigers, insects and birds, discovering their colors, sounds, and movement.  Camp also includes an activity, snack, and animal demonstration.  Dress to go outside.

9-11 AM; $18 per child/adult pair

Wednesday, April 4

Birds of a Feather: The Zoo’s birds are everywhere and some even walk along with you!  Join us as we discover more about how our birds and their eggs are alike and different, why feathers don’t mean that you always fly, and how they move about the Zoo.  Camp also includes an activity, snack, and animal demonstration.  Dress to go outside.

9AM – 12PM; $20 per child

Tuesday, April 3

Fangs or Flight: Insects versus spiders, are six legs better than eight?  Learn more about the importance and differences of insects and spiders found at the Zoo and around you too!  Camp also includes an activity, snack, and animal demonstration.  Campers need to pack a lunch.  Dress to go outside.

8:30AM – 3:00PM; $35 per session

Wednesday, April 4

Carnivore vs. Herbivore: How can you tell the difference?  Is it determined by size, color, or habitat? Join us as we examine Zoo animals to determine which animal is what by it’s skull, teeth, and other factors.

Camp also includes an activity, snack, and animal demonstration.  Campers need to pack a lunch.  Dress to go outside.

8:30AM – 3:00PM; $35 per session

Thursday, April 5

H20 Detective: Water is found in everywhere at the Zoo, in exhibits and out, but are you enough of a super sleuth to determine why?  And why all the water isn’t the same?  Join us in our quest for the answers.  Camp also includes an activity, snack, and animal demonstration.  Campers need to pack a lunch.  Dress to go outside.

Does your child want to party with the animals?

We bring zoo animals to your home for the wildest birthday party in town!

We’ll come to you with an exciting animal program to celebrate your child’s special day. Our professional zoo staff member will bring four friendly zoo animals to your home for a 60-minute birthday experience.  Here’s what’s included:

 We require that your pets be kept in a separate room while our animals are visiting your home.

Experience the Zoo after dark at this popular sleepover program!

Family Wild Nights

Find out what happens at the zoo when the lights go out! You’ll enjoy educational activities, food, lots of fun! Programs begin at 6 PM and end at 9 AM the next day. The fee for a Wild Night is $35/child and $23/adult and includes pizza dinner, snack, continental breakfast, and guided educational activities led by Zoo Education Staff. Adults must accompany children.

Sleep with the Sharks Family Night: Your under-the-sea adventure will study all things under the ocean! You and your family will sleep in the aquarium gallery. (Ages 5 & up with adult.)
