Summer Safari Day Camp Descriptions
Age 2-3 with Adult
Me & You at the Zoo
Enjoy story time, crafts, snack, and meet a special animal
guest before venturing out to explore the animal kingdom.
One adult must attend with each child. Strollers are not
provided. Both parent and child will receive camp t-shirt.

Age 4-5
Animal Alphabet
Enjoy a fun-filled half day program for children age 4-5
years old. They will be learning about the animals at the
zoo, with an emphasis on the letters of the alphabet.
Everyday we will venture through a different area of the
zoo, exploring with our new friends and learning about the
animal kingdom. We will ride rides, play games, sing songs,
and even make something special to take home.

Age 5-6
Rumble in the Jungle
Rumble in the Jungle is a fun-filled program for children
age 5-6 years old. We will be learning about the mysteries
of the animal world. Camouflage and adaptations are just a
few of the things your preschooler will learn while spending
the week with us here at the zoo. Each day we will venture
through a different area of the zoo, exploring with our
hands and senses, making new friends, and learning about the
animal kingdom. We will enjoy rides, play games, sing songs,
and even make something special to take home.
Who’s Who at the Zoo
Who’s who at the Zoo is a fun-filled program for children
age 5-6 years old. What’s a bird? What’s a reptile, a
mammal, an amphibian, or a fish? How do we tell them apart?
These are the things your youngster will learn while
spending the week with us here at the zoo. Everyday we will
venture through a different area of the zoo, exploring with
our hands, making new friends, and learning about the animal
kingdom. We will enjoy rides, play games, sing songs, and
even make something special to take home.

Age 7-8
Design a Zoo
Design a Zoo is a fun-filled program for children age 7-8
years old. They will be exploring the reasons we have zoos:
Education, Recreation, Conservation, and Research.
Participants will be going behind the scenes at the zoo,
observing how the zoo operates, the many people who work
here, and how we create exhibits. They will work together to
create their own zoo and exhibit. Everyday we will venture
through a different area of the zoo, exploring with our new
friends. We will ride rides, play games, sing songs, and
even make something special to take home.
World Traveler
World Traveler is a fun-filled program for children age 7-8
years old. They will be learning about animals and cultures
from all around the world. We will learn to speak like an
Australian, play games, and sing songs from Africa, and
maybe even try a snack or two from another country. These
are the things your child will do while spending the week
with us here at the zoo. Every day we will venture through a
different area of the zoo, exploring with our hands, making
new friends, and learning about the animal kingdom and the
country they come from. We will ride rides, play games, sing
songs, and even make something special to take home.

Age 9-10
Survivor
Survivor is a fun filled program for children age 9-10 years
old. Can your camper outlearn, outplay, and outdiscover the
other campers? This action packed camp has something for
everyone. Each day they will discover a different area of
the zoo and a different topic. Topics include predator/prey
relationships, camouflage, and adaptations to name a few.
Campers will take information they learn throughout the
morning to help them with fun challenges in the afternoon.
Zoo Detective
Zoo Detective is a fun-filled program for children age 9-10
years old. With the “Who did it?” theme, campers will be
solving an animal mystery by gathering clues, conducting
experiments, and venturing through the zoo in search of
answers. Campers will be exploring all areas of the zoo,
riding rides, and meeting new friends. This year’s mystery
is different than last year’s.

Age 9-12
Animal Artist
Animal Artist is for two separate age groups 9-10 year olds
and 11-12 year olds. Do you like to draw? Paint, or sculpt?
If you like to do these things and you love animals, then
this camp is for you. Campers will visit the zoo; however,
most time will be spent on learning about the particular
animals they have chosen for their projects. They will fine
tune their art skills and leave with some really cool
projects. Projects include: sketching, painting, print
making, sculpture, and more. Projects will be on display
Friday afternoon.Animal Actors
Animal Actors is a learning program for campers age 9-12
years old. Do you like to act? Create scenery, or dance? If
you like to do these things and you love animals, then this
camp is for you. Campers will work both “backstage” and “on
stage” to present a unique conservation play.

Age 11-12
Animal Training 101
Animal Training 101 is a learning program for campers age
11-12 years old. We will explore why we have animal training
and how we train. Campers will also be trying their hand at
training an animal. We will observe keepers training animals
and have a chance to meet with some trainers. We will also
visit behind the scenes, get our hands dirty, and
participate in a training competition.
Junior Zoo Keepers
Junior Zoo Keepers is a learning program for campers age
11-12 years old. Ever wonder what it is like to be a zoo
keeper? Campers will be getting dirty as they spend the week
in the role of zoo keeper. We will clean, fix & deliver
food, explore animal training, conduct research, travel
behind the scenes, and much more. Thursday includes a late
arrival at 12:30 p.m. and an overnight at the zoo. Overnight
includes pizza party, night hike, and much more.

Age 13-14
Eco Explorer
This hands-on camp includes field trips, plus lots of fun
and learning. Join us as we explore wildlife careers,
conservation, and research. Cook your own food, work on a
conservation project, and research animals out in the field.
