Experience jungle life as you trek through the tropics at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s Indonesian Rain Forest exhibit.
Begin your adventure in Dr. Diversity’s Research Station and encounter the rare Komodo dragon, the giant stick and walking leaf insects, an aquarium teeming with tentacled snakes, and our reticulated python — all 18 feet of him! Peer through microscopes to examine exotic beetles and butterflies as you explore life in this scientist’s camp.
Next, enter the domed jungle where you will discover colorful birds, turtles, and frogs enjoying their tropical paradise — complete with a waterfall. As you travel the easily-accessible jungle paths, you will be enveloped in a world of tropical plants, towering trees, orchids, and more. And, don’t miss Orangutan Valley where you can get nose-to-nose with the big red apes of Indonesia — the endangered Sumatran orangutans.
As you exit the rain forest dome, you will find zoo restrooms, a full service restaurant, and ATM services. And take a spin on the magical Endangered Species Carousel, a ride the whole family will enjoy!
Continue your trek by entering Tiger Forest where the endangered Sumatran tigers prowl. Next, journey down Tree Top Trail to see binturong, rare Javan gibbons, siamang, and unique rainforest creatures. Don’t miss the Kids’ Tree House! Conclude your jungle hike by posing next to the friendly orangutan statue – a favorite stop for a family snapshot.
