Oct 17 Wild Zoo Halloween

It’s Halloween fun for your little one!  The whole family will enjoy tons of pumpkins, two mazes, Broomhilda the witch, the Monster Mash Dance Party, live animal shows, and more, plus kids get treats and their own mini-pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch!  Fee charged.

Nov 6 Nature Play Workshop for Elementary School Teachers

Join us for a workshop that will help educators understand the importance of play and bringing nature into the classroom. This interactive and inspiring workshop will highlight trends in nature play and will be held at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. By attending, you are eligible to receive 2 PGP points.

Date: November 6, 2014
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Cost:  Free.  This grant-supported workshop is available to teachers in DeKalb, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, & Whitley counties in Indiana only.  To register, contact the Zoo Education Department at 260-427-6808 or education@kidszoo.org

Nov 11 Pre-literacy & Nature Play Workshop for Early Childhood Educators

Unplug your preschoolers from electronic media and get them involved in hands-on, authentic pre-literacy activities. This 90-minute workshop will inspire you to get your emergent readers excited about literacy and nature!

Cost:  Free.  This grant-supported workshop is available to Early Childhood educators in Adams, Allen, Huntington, Wabash, and Wells counties in Indiana only.

Nov 12 AAZK Lecture Series - Public Welcome

Join us for the next FREE installment of the AAZK Lecture Series.  Bob Walton from Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehab will be speaking.

7pm in the Lower Level of the Diehm Museum

This event is sponsored by the Little Turtle Branch of the AAZK and light refreshments are provided.

Nov 22 Animal Enrichment Workshop

Adults, children, families, and groups can assist in creating objects to stimulate animals’ interest and encourage natural behaviors at an Animal Enrichment Workshop.

Individuals need not register ahead of time and no previous training is required; just arrive at 10:00 a.m. ready to work. Group leaders should call the zoo’s Volunteer Office at 260-427-6828 at least one week in advance, with the ages and number of people in the group.

Workshops meet from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon in the Diehm Museum, across the street from the zoo.

Jul 29 Teacher Appreciation Night
Join us for an evening of education, exploring, and fun at the zoo’s annual Teacher Appreciation Night.  You’ll participate in behind-the-scenes tours, mini-workshops, and special activities.  Plus, you’ll enjoy food, giveaways, and 3 PGP points, and it’s all FREE with pre-registration. Educators from grades preK-12 must register in advance to get free zoo admission for the event.  Send us an e-mail with your name, grade level, county, and school or call 260-427-6808 to get on the list.  Please include your summer e-mail so we can contact you with updates on the event.
