Leatherback Trust (2)Eastern Pacific Ocean

The Leatherback Trust is a non-profit conservation organization that works to protect and preserve the leatherback sea turtle populations of the eastern Pacific Ocean. They partner with local communities to protect beaches popular for turtle nesting, as well as governments to create suitable sustainability policies and development to protect the leatherback turtle and other turtle populations.

Why do they need our support?

Because of beachfront development, ocean pollution, and nest disturbance, the eastern Pacific leatherback turtle is a critically endangered species. Populations have decreased by 98% over the last 30 years.

How is the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo helping?

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is proud to financially support the Leatherback Trust and their conservation efforts focused on preserving leatherback turtle populations.
