About

Why is this Species Conservation Status Vulnerable?

Due to overfishing in their native land, the Giant Grouper population has decreased and their population is now considered to be vulnerable.

Dinner Time

In the wild, Giant Groupers enjoy various fishes, spiny lobsters, and crustaceans. At the Zoo, we give the Giant Groupers capelin and herring to vary their diet.

Giant Groupers Don’t Enjoy Groups

Giant Groupers are solitary! They are very slow-moving and are usually found resting motionless or hovering midwater.
