Get an inside look at everyday life at the Zoo as we explore exciting and different aspects of animal care! Choose one day or sign up for all three for a wild Spring Break. Animal encounters, behind the scene insight, and engaging Zoo tours await with every camp.
Zoo Buddies (Ages 4-5: $25 per camper,9-11:30 a.m.)
Tuesday 4/6: Animal Languages- Do animals talk like you and me? Squawk, moo and roar with animal friends as we see how our animals interact with one another, and us!
Wednesday 4/7: Animal Mealtime- Our animals have their favorite foods, just like you. Join animal friends during their morning feedings for an up-close look at mealtime at the Zoo.
Thursday 4/8: Animal Playtime – What do you like to do for fun? Learn why playtime at the zoo is important for our animals too!
Zoo Explorers (Ages 6-8: $40 per camper, 8-3:30 p.m.)
Tuesday 4/6: Animal Behavior- Instinct and learned behaviors influence everything an animal does to survive and thrive in its environment. Our Zoo animals are no exception! See how animal’s actions and reactions help them to engage with their surroundings.
Wednesday 4/7: Zoo Nutrition- Feeding 1,000 animals is a big meal order! Learn how the Zoo ensures our beloved animals stay healthy all year as you help prepare a special meal for our animal residents!
Thursday 4/8: Animal Enrichment- Animals need lots of enrichment to help keep their minds and bodies active! Help our Zoo Keepers by constructing your own animal enrichment to watch our animals interact with your creation.
Junior Zoo Keepers (Ages 9-12: $40 per camper, 8-3:30 p.m.)
Tuesday 4/6: Animal Behavior- Zoo Keepers spend their day studying and learning everything they can about the animals they care for. See firsthand how Zoo Keepers and scientists observe the complexity of animal behavior in order to provide the best care!
Wednesday 4/7: Animal Enrichment- Do animals still hunt, forage, or explore in their Zoo homes? See how enrichment helps animals practice these and other natural behaviors, just like their wild counterparts. Have a chance to make your own enrichment for a popular Zoo animal!
Thursday 4/8: Animal Training- Are you ready to put your problem-solving skills to the test? Become a trainer for the day to experience one of the most rewarding parts of being a Zoo Keeper! Campers will discover the importance of positive reinforcement in animal husbandry and daily care at the Zoo.
Bring a sack lunch, something to drink and dress to go outside, rain or shine.
Age & Cancellation Policy
Children must meet age requirements on the first day of all programs (no exceptions). Programs are held rain or shine. Refunds (minus 10% processing fee) are available if you cancel at least 2 weeks in advance. No refund if you cancel less than 2 weeks in advance. The zoo reserves the right to cancel camps with insufficient registration or to meet health regulations. In the event of such a cancellation, all your fees will be refunded.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo will be adhering to current policies recommended at the time of your Spring Break Camp.
