Red Panda Ridge
Begin your trek through Asia at Red Panda Ridge, where the red pandas love to hang out in the trees. Look towards the ground as well to spot the Reeve’s muntjac, who shares a habitat with the red pandas. Before you leave, bring your imagination to life and run through a maze of bamboo!
Bamboo Forest Adventure Play

Climb, maneuver, and zipline to new heights on the Bamboo Forest Adventure Play, a 2-story ropes course with 27 different obstacles! For kids under 48”, Sky Tykes is available with 11 different obstacles to explore. Purchase tickets here.

Rain Forest Room
In the Rain Forest Room, you will be immersed in a place where snakes slither in water, where tree roots grow around your feet, and the sounds of the Indonesian Rainforest come to life! Meet a host of reptilian species of all colors and sizes, from the black-breasted leaf turtle to the reticulated python, one of the longest snakes in the world. You may also see a northern tree shrew, but keep your eyes peeled as this small mammal can move very fast!
Jungle Aviary Dome
Get up close to the Sumatran orangutans and 17 different species of birds! Look high and low as you embark among the trees, as some birds prefer to walk on ground, while others love to perch in the treetops.
Endangered Species Carousel
If you have special needs, we are happy to accommodate you. Please speak to the attendant before boarding your ride.
Go for a ride on the Endangered Species Carousel, where each of the colorful and unique creatures are an endangered animal species in Southeast Asia. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo was the first zoo in the United States to have a carousel dedicated towards endangered species. Purchase tickets here. Must be scheduled in advance.

- Guests under 42” must be accompanied by an adult
- Accompanying adults must be stood between two horses
- Guests standing on carousel must be accompanying a rider
Tiger Forest
Continue your journey to Tiger Forest, where the Sumatran tigers can be found exploring their exhibit. Look closely, sometimes their stripes help them to camouflage amongst the trees and the brush.
Tree Tops Trail
Many animals are awaiting you in Tree Tops Trail! Explore the Kids Tree House for a new view of the Zoo, listen to the unique call of the Javan gibbons, and look for the Prevost’s squirrel.
Slice
Take a moment to rest your feet at Slice, where you can grab an artisan flatbread pizza, carved sandwiches, mac and cheese, and cold drinks. Sitting just across from the Endangered Species Carousel, stop for a bite to eat before taking a spin on the carousel.
Carousel Canteen & Creamery
If you need a quick stop to help you cool down, the Carousel Canteen and Creamery is your spot! Mix your own ICEE, grab some ice cream, or a popcorn to take on the go as you trek on through the Tree Tops Trail.
Bamboo Forest Snack Station
Before you start your adventure through Asian Trek, stop at the Bamboo Forest Snack Station for a quick bite to eat. Here you can find salads, sandwiches, and other light bites to munch on while you sit back and watch guests conquer Bamboo Forest Adventure Play.
Resting spots are located throughout Asian Trek to allow guests a spot to take a moment of rest before heading off through the Zoo. Resting spots include:

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is a KultureCity certified Sensory Inclusive Venue. All Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo staff are trained to help guests with sensory needs enjoy their Zoo visit, and KultureCity Sensory Bags can be checked out at the Guest Services building. Discovery Garden, located just before the Asian Trek switchback, is Asian Trek’s nearest designated Quiet Area.
Headphone Zones
Asian Trek has designated headphone zones, identified in-person with signs, to let guests know when it may be a good time to wear headphones. Headphone zones include:

Can I bring outside food and beverage to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo?
Guests are allowed to bring outside food and beverages to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. In Asian Trek, there are picnic tables at the Bamboo Forest Snack Station and at Slice where guests can sit down to eat.
Where is the first-aid room?
The First-aid Room is in the Central Zoo near the Guest Services building. However, there are first-aid kits located throughout Asian Trek, and all Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo employees are first-aid trained and can assist guests with first-aid needs.
Where can I nurse my child?
Nursing spaces are available in the Guest Services building at the Zoo’s main entrance.
Are there opportunities to meet a Zoo Keeper?
